Visit to Finnair COOL Nordic cargo hub

On 4 December, Qstep together with other members of Estonian Aviation Cluster, has visited Finnair COOL Nordic Cargo hub or simply “COOL Terminal” in Helsinki-Vantaa international airport. Having operated COOL Nordic cargo hub at Helsinki-Vantaa airport (HEL), for almost two years now, Finnair Cargo eyes HEL airport cargo community development as important prerequisite for sustainable growth. The benchmarks? None other than Brussels cargo and Schiphol cargo communities.
As one of the most advanced air cargo terminals in the world combining semi-automated handling and intelligent warehousing with unique position of HEL as Europe´s most eastern airline hub with 24h plane rotation to most of Asia, the COOL is well placed to be one of the driving forces of the HEL cargo community. It is already clear that the focus in HEL will be on value-added services such as pharma and fresh fish handling. Once in place, the HEL cargo community will affect larger Baltic-Nordic region providing both regions with opportunities.
COOL Terminal is one of the three cargo handling agents in Helsinki airport, the other two are ASR Cargo Center and Swissport Finland, both of them forming Qstep customer base in Finland.
